Dear K-5 Families,
The CompassLearning Odyssey program is a web‐based curriculum used in your child's classroom. This program is designed to support your child's educational experience, and it is a valuable resource to reinforce the City Schools of Decatur K-5 elementary curriculum. CompassLearning allows students and parents to access the program from their home computer and includes learning activities aligned to the students' MAP scores in Math and Language Arts. The intent of this webpage is to provide you with the necessary information so you may support your child in accessing CompassLearning outside of school.
Accessing the Program
The CompassLearning Odyssey program is available by clicking below or typing the following address into your browser's address bar: https://thelearningodyssey.com
Students have received their User Name and Password information at school. If your student has misplaced this information, please ask the classroom teacher for assistance. The Username is usually your child's lunch number, the password for all students is go. Don't forget to type decatur for School.
We encourage students to commit a half an hour to each subject a week to grow their skills in both reading and math. Research recommends that students spend 30 minutes completing activities in Language Arts as well as 30 minutes in Math per week.
Below is an example of an elementary school child’s Language Arts homepage. The student will find folders of activities organized by their RIT score on their most recent MAP test.
To see your child’s progress over certain dates, choose the Portfolio tab in the upper left corner of the home screen.
In the Portfolio, parents and students can view recent work and quiz scores. Under the Reports tab, parents can view work for specific subjects, activities, and date ranges.
